It has been quite a while since I have posted any of our photo sessions on our Journal page. I think this has something to do with me wanting to sort of begin anew with our site and the layout of the Journal. With the birth of a new baby by one of our best clients it made me realize I should put up some new material on the website. Little baby Ava Rae is the daughter of clients, Stacie and Travis. We photographed their Engagement session, we did a Special session with just Stacie and then we photographed the Marriage of Stacie and Travis and now behold the little wonder Ava Rae. Interesting how you can go back and remember the various points of each photo session with people you connect with, the photos really make it all worthwhile. So with that enjoy the photo below, more new material and a refreshed look to come in the near future.

Two week old Little Baby, Ava Rae.

Super fun time photographing Laura and Bjorn in Lake Tahoe. We really like these two folks, easy going, super thoughtful and genuinely nice. It appears as though Mindy and Laura are noticing personality traits that are a bit similar between Bjorn and myself, well…I guess that’s good right? Right. Anyways we spent some time shooting both digital and film images. My personal favorite is of Bjorn and Laura at Meeks Bay Meadow, shot on film with a 30 year old Olympus OM-1N camera and Zuiko 28mm f2.8 lens. This image is timeless and simply just looks good.

We just love it when someone is agreeable to shooting film and experimenting with the outcome, because slide film cross-processed in negative film chemicals is like opening an Easter Egg. Both Bre and Jason were interested in seeing how the images might turn out, shooting back and white film also gave them a chance to get some classic looks as well. We went around different parts of Roseville searching for some cool lighting and found a couple of interesting spots. Sort of nice to load up my very first 35mm camera with Kodak E100VS film, the Mamiya-Sekor 1000DTL did just fine. The black and white images were taken with a Mamiya RB67 medium format camera loaded with Kodak Tri-X 400 speed film. Hope you like the very non-traditional color that cross-processed film can provide.

The following images are a small selection from a portrait session I recently did in Miami Florida. One thing is for certain, get up and start shooting early because it is already hot and it will only get hotter and then more humid, oh Florida. Anyways, the session went very well, shooting only film so I was going to be pretty happy knowing the color and overall feel was going to be what I wanted. Processing and scanning was performed by Richard Photo lab in Hollywood California. Ann-Marie was pretty easy to work with, super nice and well accomplished. Ann-Marie is a tennis Pro and has played on the world level and practiced regularly with a little lady who was recently winning at Wimbledon so yeah, Ann-Marie can play.

Not too long ago I spent the better part of a day with Kim in San Francisco. We went around to various locations of interest and I photographed her in a variety of different lighting conditions, all of these images are on film. Fort Point was our first destination followed by the Legion of Honor Museum and then Baker Beach. Most of my framing was in tight, no problem, Kim looks great so a person does not need a lot of surroundings in the frame to keep it interesting. I used a Nikon F-100 35mm film camera and a Yashica MAT-124G twin lens reflex medium format film camera, all cameras were loaded with Kodak film.

This recent wedding was absolutely what a wedding is supposed to be about, Love & Family. It might sound odd to state that a wedding was filled with Love and Family but after being to as many weddings as we have this one was up there with the best of them. Shellie & Cameron are such a nice couple, kind and caring and truly in love. With the back drop of Lake Tahoe the ceremony took place at a private residence on the lake. The weather was beautiful, no wind, just beautiful temperatures all day and into the night. If it got hot anywhere it had to be the dance floor, what a fun group, almost non-stop for three or four hours. We look forward to seeing Shellie and Cameron after they return from their Honeymoon.

It is always a great sight to see a Father who truly loves their baby and Justin is a proud parent. We have many photos and of course some include little Mommy Jen however those images are for the family.
